This year we wanted to try something new for this Holiday, and the recipe is: choose a city, choose accommodation through booking.com or airbnb, choose a partner and … hit the road! We chose the city of Debrecen, a small and peaceful city, perfect for a couple of days rest, but with some interesting attractions. So even if you pass it for a day, stop for a few hours and check out this things:
- Aquaticum water center: spa, thermal baths & an amazing Mediterranean aqua park
- “Great Forest” Park – it’s this huge park with a zoo, thermal baths and a stadium, etc.
- Debrecen University – from 1932, and imagine that during that time it was the third biggest building in Hungary ( the architect is Korb Flóris, who also participated in the design of the Central Library in Cluj)
- Kossuth Square, with The Great Reformed Church – super lively place, only for pedestrians with caffes, pubs and restaurant

One thing is for sure, in Debrecen people know how to celebrate the New Year’s Eve! They had live music, a fair with sweets and drinks, street dancing, fireworks and … a ferris wheel! 🙂
In the Central Park you can always find something interesting, no matter what season. For example, in the winter you can visit the ice-skating ring or the Water Tower ( a small tip – from there you have an impressive view over the city and *bonus* the ticket includes a free coffee! )
Enjoy it! Let us know how you celebrated this holiday and see you soon!
